Balcones Roofing Celebrates 6 Years with a New Office Location!

For over six years, Balcones Roofing & Remodeling has quietly earned the trust of homeowners in Austin who seek more from their roof—and their roofer. This vision was born in 2019 from owner Karl L. Larsen, who, after nearly a decade with a large roofing firm in his hometown of Columbia, SC, believed there had to be a better, more honorable path.
Sure, it's true that not all roofing companies are created equal. But let's be real: most mirror their founders' old employers—churning out the same aggressive tactics like commissioned sales pushes, paid leads, door-knocking marathons, intrusive mailers, dinner-time cold calls, and ad bombardment across your feeds. We asked ourselves: What if we broke free from that mold? What if we simply committed to excellence in what homeowners truly hire us for—delivering roofs so outstanding that our clients naturally spread the word to friends, family, and neighbors?
And what if we left behind the behaviors homeowners despise most about our industry, the ones that make roofers the least trusted trade? Imagine being sought after, not scrambling at doorsteps alongside nine other solicitors. (You don't see plumbers or electricians doing that, right?)
That "what if" became our reality—through persistence, humility, and a refusal to chase the typical roofing grind.
Today, nearly 85% of our business flows from heartfelt word-of-mouth referrals. We stayed true to our course, resisting the feast-or-famine scaling traps that force competitors to inflate, then deflate under pressure. They puff up in boom times, only to crack when hailstorms pass: communications falter, payments lag, overhead crushes, and corners get cut—perpetuating a predatory cycle where homeowners suffer with subpar installs, slashed deductibles leading to cheap products, and roofs no stronger than before. It's unsustainable, and it erodes trust.
We chose differently: staying lean, laser-focused on client experience, meticulous detail, and sustainable practices over rapid growth or flashy metrics. It's been a humbling journey—not easy then, and challenging still—but profoundly rewarding. The organic growth, born from genuine satisfaction, feels like a quiet victory.
With six years behind us, we're grateful and ready to expand thoughtfully. I'm thrilled to share that we're relocating our headquarters to the vibrant heart of Lake Travis, right on RR 620 N in Hudson Bend! This prominent spot will house our office, secondary warehouse, and showroom—ideally placed to serve all of Austin and beyond. To meet rising demand, we'll add key roles while sharpening what sets us apart as 'Probably Austin's Best Roofer'.
